India is a land of varied culture, religions and people and the social structure of the country and religious beliefs of the people attract the tourists from all over the world.
Culture has always been a major attraction of the tourists. Like the other tribal culture, the Tagin culture also has been playing very importance role in the progress and prosperity of the society. Tagin people have their own way of life which is highly being appreciated by the tourists. Since time immemorial Tagin community is known for its straight forwardness, truthfulness, courageous and highly hospitable nature. Their way of welcoming the guests by serving them Opo (rice beer), foods and meat speak volume of their respect to the guests.

The delicious food being cooked in Bamboo may be offered to tourist as special cuisine. Such preparation of food items is very rare in Arunachal Pradesh and this may also attract large number of tourists in festive occasion.

There are good things too
Dear Editor,
It was enlightening to go through the thought-
I would be very pleased if critics are wise enough to suggest a revenue source apart from Hydropower. Suggest the Government one source that doesn’t have it demerits. As far as I’m aware in keeping with the universal phenomena of interdependence there can never be something at the cost of nothing. It is very easy to suggest someone that something is not right but the virtue is in giving the solution.
In progress we are in no comparison to other states, sad but true. Now, the Big QUESTION is why?
* Until recent past we have been rendered step-
* Absence or deprived Communication Systems – Transportation and Telecommunication. It is true that man has conquered the highest mountain and reached the moon but railways lines haven’t yet reached our State leave alone Airports. For a State like ours, Railways and Airports are too much to ask where even good roads would be a luxury. Apart from Itanagar, in rest of the Districts mobile network is conked which I guess requires no explanation. I never realized until I was back home that there can be such as network problems even when the signal is full. It’s not been long that we have had access to the World Wide Web.
* Too little population. For any business to sustain and boom it requires demand and demand is proportional to population.
* Absence of Industries or Companies as there is shortage of man power, resources and the State Government policies on land acquisition, ILP (Inner Line Permit) policy etc. Take for example our own country after the economic liberalization in the early 1990s, there has been exponential economic growth.
* Monopolization of the former Government for more than two long decades. What has that Government done in 20 odd years of its ruling? We have to pull up our socks as there is loads of unfinished work to wrap up. Others are 20 years ahead of us.
* You and I. Ask, what is our contribution towards the prosperity and dilapidation
of our motherland? John F. Kennedy in one of his inspirational speech said, “...

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Koyu and Rina villages of East Siang district gets a major facelift after a 2 MW MHP was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu yesterday in presence of Home Minister Tako Dabi, MP Ninong Ering and host of high ranking dignitaries. The Micro Hydel shall benefit 28 villages in the vicinity and has been constructed with an amount of Rs. 2947 Lakhs. With 32 KV line at anvil, the MHP is expected to lessen the power crisis of Pasighat Township to a great extent.
In his inaugural address, Khandu called upon the people of Koyu and Rina to be partner of development. “Major thrust is being concentrated towards infrastructural development so that every village of the state is well connected with road, electricity and gets the basic amenities” Khandu emphatically said while placing his vision for the New Year.
While informing the gathering about the new state education policy, Khandu made it amply clear that education sector will be revamped in a missionary zeal. Education and Health being the priority sector of his government, he hinted that all schools would have equal representation of teachers and the transfer and posting of the teachers would be made compulsory after the prescribed tenure.
He assured that hostel and quarters for teachers would be made available for the schools wherever necessary so that proper accommodation and congenial atmosphere is created in the surroundings of the school. Besides free text books, free uniform would also be given to the poor students, Khandu said.
Reiterating his stand over harnessing the rich hydro power resource for generating
revenue for over all development of the state, Khandu mentioned about the pragmatic
and beneficial state’s Relief and Rehabilitation Policy giving wide ranging benefits
to the affected families and communities. While responding to the public memorandum,
Khandu assured to provide fund from SPA for construction of teachers quarter and

AAPSU seeks proper investigation into SSA fund embezzlement
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Reacting to the unearthing of huge embezzlement of fund under SSA at East Kameng district by Sango Lomte Foundation, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has taken serious note of such mismanagement. AAPSU has sought proper investigation into whole case and urged state government to seriously purse it.
AAPSU President Takam Tatung in a press statement asked concerned authorities not to compromise with corruption in education and health sectors. “Education and health sectors are crucial for future of this state. If we do not have proper education infrastructures, then how can we aim for better future,” stated Takam Tatung. Further he added, “Keeping in mind the recent corruption case coming out of SSA East Kameng, we urge state government, education department in particular to constitute one man enquiry commission in this regard headed by an IAS officer. All funding done under SSA since 2004 should be investigated.”
Tatung said as people have cast aspersion over various projects carried out under SSA, constituting of enquiry commission would go long way in unearthing all other problems plaguing SSA projects. He said AAPSU will keep a close eye on various projects carried out under SSA and if there is discrepancy they will not hesitate to raise such issue in public forum.

National Girl Child Day observed
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has launched a poster campaign against child marriage in Arunachal Pradesh with support from Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti New Delhi to mark the National Girl Child Day today.
While calling upon the State Government for upliftment, justice and development of girl child in the state, Komoli Mossang, chairperson of the Commission requested the Government for promoting all the civil societies working in the field of girl child advocacy. She appreciated the Central Government for the campaign to create awareness of the society for betterment and dignity of girl child.
She said that APSCW has been totally dedicated for protection and promotion of girl child in the state since its inception in 2005. It had observed 2008 as year of Girl Child in Arunachal Pradesh, Mossang informed.

Tabo sticks to his stand, warns action
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Thrashing report that his appointment is not valid, the newly appointed President of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Nilly Likha Tabo has taken serious note of some people challenging his selection. In a press statement today Tabo urged people to refrain from making baseless press statement without knowing the facts.
“I have been entrusted responsibility of leading INTUC Arunachal unit by national leadership based at Delhi. By challenging my appointment, they are directly challenging leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. INTUC is purely Congress supported organization and if you start questioning your own central leaders then how can you claim to be member of INTUC,” stated Tabo. Further he added, “Constitution of INTUC says that there should be district unit. But as per my knowledge previous team did not constitute any such unit.”
He also asked people not to issue press statement without knowing proper facts. “Without knowing central leadership’s role in my appointment as INTUC President, some people are giving wrong press statement. I request them not to do so and I may be compelled to file defamation suit against such people,” stated Tabo.
Further Tabo informed that soon he is going to meet national leaders at Delhi with new team of INTUC. “I wish to take all people along and work together for betterment of labour and workers. I have no problem with anyone and am ready to cooperate with anyone who aims to work for benefit of labour and working class,” said Tabo. He urged labour and trade unions not to get confused with new team of INTUC and further informed that soon proper office of INTUC will be established. He also sought support of Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and APCC President Nabam Tuki in making INTUC more powerful in the state.

The system will serve the common people with all kind of document to be computerized and issued through single window system within two to three days.
It would not only reduced the work load of the officer concern but also speed up the official process with better precision and security. Union demands infrastructure for Kamba ADC office
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Hirik-
The students union, which met recently to identify various problems and grievances of people of Kamba circle in particular and West Siang district as a whole, said that the ADC headquarter which is the main pillar of Kamba circle has been functioning without sufficient infrastructure. Further, the school building and teachers quarters of all the primary and middle schools in the circle were in a ruined condition due to lack of maintenance which needed immediate renovation, it said.
The students union also demanded immediate opening of SBI ATM counter, installation of one more BSNL mobile tower for smooth telecom service, upgradation of Kamba PHC, auditorium, playground, proper lighting facility at Donyi Polo College with good road communication, construction of PMGSY road from Kamba to Kato and Kunu Yami, Kamba to Darak & Karbak Hipin to Karbak Moku and Kambu etc.

KVK conducts training on fish farming
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tirap has organized a five-
District Fisheries Development officer L. Lasa in his inaugural speech exhorted the farmers of the district to take full benefit from the training and utilize the knowledge for augmenting fish production. Dr. Narendra Kumar, Programme coordinator, KVK, Tirap also addressed the farmers on the occasion and encouraged them to use the full benefit of the facilities of KVK.
The five day long programme was coordinated by Rajdeep Dutta,( SMS fisheries), KVK, Tirap. The training programme included both theory and practical sessions on different aspects of fish pond water quality management like control of aquatic insects and weeds in fish pond.
Padi Pilia, Fishery officer delivered a lecture on control of aquatic insects and weeds in a fish pond. Rajdeep Dutta gave a power point presentation on maintenance of productivity of a fish pond using organic manure, maintenance of suitable DO level and algal bloom control in fish pond.
The farmers were also given active practical exposure. The practical were held at fisheries demonstration unit of KVK, Tirap located at Deomali. Special screening of documentaries on scientific fish farming was also arranged for the trainees. An interactive session between the fish farmers and the resource persons was held during the concluding session of the programme.

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: A one day training cum workshop was organized for Saakshar Bharat District and Block Resource Persons of Changlang, Upper Subansiri and East Siang by State Resource Center Naharlagun today.
The objectives of the training programme is to capacitate the resource persons to undertake “Awareness generation” campaign for the Panchayat members in their respective district and blocks who are the primary stake holders and implementing unit at Gram Panchayat level.

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: The Sports Volunteers (Kridashree) training programme for Anjaw district was organized at Hayuliang block for 3 days from Jan 17.

No rice stock in FCI godowns
ITANAGAR: No rice stock is available in Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns at Ziro, North Lakhimpur and Karsingsa, the base depot for Kurung Kumey district, since December last, according to an official release.
“We are trying our best to dispatch the rice as soon as stock is available at FCI godown at Ziro," the authority said and appealed to all concerned to bear with problem.
It is pertaining to mention here that despite of depositing the cost of rice for the months of December and January to FCI by wholesale nominee cum carriage contractors of the district, the FCI authority has failed to bring a single kg of rice to their godown at Ziro.
